RICS Code of Measuring Practice

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has published “RICS Property Measurement, 1^st edition”.  This has three parts: 

• “Professional Statement: Office Measurement” which applies only to office measurements;
• “International Property Measurement Standards (IPMS): Office Buildings”; and
• “Code of Measuring Practice, 6^th edition” which applies to all classes of buildings except offices.

This publication includes the first IPMS, which is intended to increase the consistency and transparency of the way office buildings are measured worldwide.  When other IPMS are published, “RICS Property Measurement” will be updated to comply with them.  It is intended that IPMS for residential, industrial and retail buildings will be published.
